Macchie is the maximum expression of love and respect for the tradition of rural life and Tuscan culture. The Sangiovese grapes come from a small vineyard owned by the company, "Osteria delle Macchie", which covers an area of 2.3 hectares and is situated on a hill facing south-east. Fermentation is spontaneous in stainless steel then moved to French Barriques for malolactic fermentation. The Macchie then matures for 18 months in French Barriques.
In the glass the wine has an intense ruby red color. Deep and intense on the nose, with aromas of ripe fruit. It initially presents itself with a robust body and is then followed by particular elegance and complexity, presenting a mix of black fruits and a hint of spices. In the mouth it is thin and round, with a persistent aftertaste. It is a wine to drink young, although it is constantly evolving and is excellent to serve even in the following 10-12 years.
Macchie pairs well with a wide variety of traditional Tuscan dishes, such as bruschetta, prosciutto, pasta with wild boar ragù, Florentine-style steak, roast lamb and porcini mushrooms. In general, it goes well with meat dishes, especially red meats and game.
