The Giba Rosso from Cantina Giba is truly an amazing Sardinian wine with a complex bouquet, great depth and a stunning finish. Giba Rosso is a traditional Carignano made following the company's philosophy which aims to produce wine with minimal intervention and maximum respect to local traditions. Through research and a continuing desire to improve themselves it has made Cantina Giba and its Carignano a symbol of the Sardinian terroir. The Giba Rosso is a great example of the interaction between soil and vine with a strong personality it is a unique wine that takes life from the vineyards.

The winery covers 20 hectares of sustainably cared for vineyards. The Giba Rosso Carignano is produced with carefully selected grapes that have been harvested by hand between the end of August and beginning of September. The bunches are de-stemmed then gently pressed to then carry out alcoholic fermentation, spontaneously, in stainless steel tanks. The Carignano is aged for 6 months in stainless steel vats and 15% in old barriques.

The Giba Rosso has a deep ruby red colour. On the nose there is red fruit and pleasant herbal notes of baking spices. The palate is medium to full bodied, savoury, deep and persistent with a good and well integrated tannic structure.
Best paired with meat ragù, game and roasted or grilled pork.
Cantina Giba is one of very few European Vineyards using ungrafted vines. In the early 1900s phylloxera destroyed most of Europe’s vineyards. A tiny spider that eats the roots killing the vine was the culprit. 90% of vineyards were replanted with American vines.
